If you have embedded checkout enabled, your subscribers can purchase paid subscriptions as gifts for others directly from your subscribe page.
How it works
When someone visits your subscribe page, they'll see a checkbox labeled "This is a gift" next to the email address field. When checked, additional fields appear:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Purchaser's email | The buyer enters their own email address for billing purposes and payment receipts. |
| Recipient's email | A new field appears where the purchaser can enter the email address of the person who will receive the subscription. |
| Gift message | The purchaser can optionally add a personal message that will be included when the recipient is notified about their gift subscription. |
After payment is completed, the subscription is created for the recipient's email address, not the purchaser's. The recipient receives a notification email letting them know they've been gifted a subscription.
How gift subscriptions appear in your dashboard
These gift subscriptions appear exactly like regular premium subscriptions in your dashboard — you'll see the recipient as a premium subscriber with full access to your paid content. The only difference is that the subscription metadata includes information about who purchased it as a gift, which you can view in the subscriber's details.
